Keep in mind, these calorie guidelines are very general averages, as someone who is 4’11 and weighed 95 pounds before pregnancy will have different caloric needs than someone who is 5’11 and weighed 170 pounds before pregnancy. Due to their macro- and micro-nutrient contents, the following food groups are essential for a healthy pregnancy so I highly recommend making these guidelines an everyday goal to fulfill. It is important to note that you are not restricted to the foods listed on the next few pages; these food groups should take priority in your daily regimen; however, you will be able to incorporate other foods as well.
