Recipe for Dinner
50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup plain (all-purpose) flour
15 ml/1 tbsp wheatgerm
1.5 ml/1/2 tsp baking powder
25 g/1 oz/1/2 cup chopped almonds 25 g/1 oz/1/2 cup chopped pecan nuts 65 g/21/2oz/ Jscant 1/2 cup butter or margarine 50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup carob chips 175 g/6 oz/ 1A dark brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2.5 ml/1/2 tsp almond essence (extract)
Mix together the flour, wheatgerm, baking powder and nuts. Melt the butter or margarine with the carob and sugar in a saucepan or microwave, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly, then beat in the eggs and almond essence. Pour into the flour mixture and blend evenly. Turn into a greased 28 x 18 cm/ll x 7 in shallow baking tin (pan). Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/350HF/gas mark 4 for 35 minutes. Cool in the tin, then cut into squares.
