For the Holidays
Bring warmth and sparkle into your home from Christmas through the New Year with candlelight. Create a holiday mood from the moment your guests come through the front door by covering the surface of a table with different candles in all sizes and stylesvotives, candlesticks, and hurricanes. Line fat red and green candles along the mantel and surround with freshly cut pine branches.
To create spots of holiday cheer, use bayberry and cranberry candles here and there on tables, mantel, kitchen counter, bathroom sink. They give off a nice seasonal scent. Place a fat candle in a larger clear glass bowl, vase, or other container. Fill partway with water and insert sprigs of holly leaves and berries all around.
Unusual Candle Holders
I have a collection of old wooden thread spools that I use to hold candles on my coffee table. They’re grouped together and I light them every night just as it begins to get dark outside. The reflection of candlelight in the darkened windowpanes makes the panes appear cheerful rather than foreboding.
