In March 2015, Homewood, makers of luxury hardwood furniture, invited young designers across the country to submit entries for their Emerging Designer competition. The brief was simply to design a space where people would like to be.
Six finalists were selected to create a room using Homewood furniture, Hertex fabrics, Annie Sloan paint, and a R5 000 decor budget. Each design was displayed in Homewood’s Kramerville, Jo’burg showroom for a month before the overall winner was chosen.
Top honours went to Carla Cronje and Paolo Arcangeli of Prime Home Design Studio. Their prize included Homewood furniture worth R50 000, a stand at Decorex 2016, a two-year iiD membership and a listing in Marcia Margolius’ SA Decor & Design Guide 2017.
