Two methods of measurement may be described. One is to measure the whole of the surfaces to be covered, and reduce these measurements to the total number of square yards.
The superficial area of a roll of paper is about 7 square yards; but we must make an allowance for the inevitable waste. So, if we take the total number of square yards to be covered and divide that total by six, it will give us the required number of rolls, or “pieces” as they are called.
