Recipe for Dinner
50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup sugar 30 ml/2 tbsp golden (light corn) syrup or black treacle (molasses)
75 g/3 oz/1/2 cup butter or margarine 225 g/8 oz/ 2 cups rolled oats 45 ml/3 tbsp carob powder
5 ml/1 tsp vanilla or almond essence ( extract)
25 g/1 oz/1/2 cup walnuts, chopped 50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup sultanas (golden raisins), chopped
Put the sugar, syrup or molasses and butter or margarine in a large pan and heat gently until the fat and sugar have melted. Stir in the remaining ingredients and mix well. Press into a greased 25 x
16 cm/10 x 6 in shallow tin (pan). Chill to set for at least 3 hours. Cut into 5 cm/2 in squares and serve.
