Dining Table Top Design

They come as part of a mezze, a traditional Middle Eastern feast of a dozen different dishes which you are supposed to pick at before embarking on the main course of the meal. (I say supposed, because the trouble is, we foreigners tend to eat so much delicious mezze that weve got no room left for the main meal – or we think the mezze is the main meal. ) Its a wonderful way to eat: DINING TABLE TOP DESIGN guests sit around the great spread of plates, scooping up whatever combination of tastes they feel like, relaxed and chatting, resting in between each mouthful, so that the mezze course of the meal can, and usually does, go on for hours. You might think people would get utterly bored with the same old meal served up night after night in Syria and Lebanon, but every cook has his or her slight variations of these classic salad creams, and they are often accompanied by a variety of other dishes – kebbeh (elaborate meatballs made with cracked wheat and mince), stuffed vine leaves, hard-boiled eggs, simple chopped chicken liver and onion – so you can make endless permutations.
