Food is taken very seriously in Obergurgl. At each meal we were wowed by another beautifully presented modem version of a classic Alpine dish. In the hotel restaurants we enjoyed delicious pasta dishes or lightly grilled fish, all with inventive salads and vegetables. The biggest treat was a fondue at the Hotel Hochgurgl, Obergurglâ€™s smartest hotel, where big, fresh tiger prawns and other wondrous delicacies sizzled in boiling oil at our table. As the regime of heavy exercise continued, Alfred had us all skiing exactly as he wanted by our third day. Our success was rewarded with an amazing run from halfway up Obergurglâ€™s Hohe-Mut down to lunch at the isolated Schonwieshiitte.
