This house incorporates distinctive design elements from Japan, collected by Donald Wexler after serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The tiles that appear in the master bathroom depict a grazing horse with kanji characters and there’s a shoji-inspired screen on the ceiling. The tiles in the pool spell the words “Pacific Ocean” using kanji characters. The door handles on the front gate consist of two Nanbu ironwork ashtrays. The house is the first home Wexler and Harrison designed in the South Palm Springs neighborhood of Deepwell.
