Installing Vinyl Wallcovering
Because of the width of commercial vinyl wallcovering, it should be installed by a professional installer with an assistant. Walls to which the vinyl will be applied must be clean and dry with no mold, mildew, grease, or stains. Walls should be primed with the manufacturer’s recommended primer that includes a mildew inhibitor. The manufacturer’s recommended paste is either applied to the back of each sheet of wallcovering with time allowed for soaking in, or if the wallcovering is dry hung, the adhesive is applied to the wall. Wallcovering should be installed as it comes off the roll, and pattern matched if necessary. The wallcovering can be butt-joined, having no overlapping seams, or the seams can be overlapped and trimmed after installation. Seams must be cleaned of adhesive residue with clean water. When stretched, vinyl wallcovering tends to recover to its original size, so care must be taken in installation to accommodate that tendency.

Maintaining Vinyl Wallcovering
Vinyl wallcoverings are chosen for commercial use because they are durable and easy to maintain. Generally, they can be cleaned with mild soap and warm water, using a bristle brush as necessary to remove soil from the textured surface. Thorough rinsing is necessary to remove residual cleaner that can darken over time. Abrasive cleaners are not recommended because they can damage the surface coating. Ink, paint, or crayon can be removed with rubbing alcohol. With the addition of stain-resistant coatings, vinyl wallcoverings resist ink and soil, and can be scrubbed and/or cleaned with a mild bleach solution.
Panels intended to divide space while allowing transmission of light are made from a variety of plastics. Plastic can replace glass in interior partitions and doors and serve as interior partitions. Some types of plastic wall panels are chosen when there is a special need for fire resistance, resistance to vandalism and other damage, or bullet resistance. Wall panels from plastic materials may be used in installations requiring hygienic control and cleanability. Panels may be decorative, with honeycomb structure or with integral color and pattern. Some panels are a sandwich of two layers of clear plastic material with an inner layer of fabric or other material. Other panels have decorative materials embedded in resin.
